turn in a few finished quilts. Everyone enjoyed the camaraderie and opportunity to meet and visit with
Guild members they did not know. See page 4 of the newsletter for more information.

Sophia DayHello fellow quilters,

I’m sorry I missed the September Guild meeting, but I want to address some questions I received afterwards.

There is apparently still some confusion as to how We Care relates to our Guild and our charitable committee, Community Service. The answer is that We Care is a totally separate organization from our guild. The
reason we hear about it so frequently is because of guild members who are very passionate about it and want to share with others in the quilting community.

From Kathy Biggi of We Care: “We Care is a county-wide project whose mission is to provide quilts to children victimized by wildfires. Supported and funded by clubs, churches, businesses and individuals from Nevada and Placer counties and the Reno area. We have had donations from San Francisco, Connecticut and most recently Canada. We’ve gone international! It’s no different than making a quilt for your church, Project Linus, Quilts of Valor...charities outside of the guild.”

From Marjorie McConnell of Community Service: “Community Service” is a guild sponsored committee. The Chairpersons develop projects and promote participation among the Guild’s general membership. Quilts, walker bags, pillowcases, and other items requested by local agencies are made and given to distressed individuals and families in Nevada County.”

I know that many of you support We Care and Community Service, as well as organizations such as Project Linus, Quilts of Valor and others that touch your hearts. That’s wonderful. We have such a generous, giving guild. I do ask you to remember though, that we have individuals in need here in Nevada County. The way to support them is through our guild organization, Community Service. They’re always in need of quilts.

As always, feel free to call me or email me if you have further questions or concerns.
